Larger dogs can benefit from a harness too...
As with our other harnesses the big dog harness goes over the head and fits around the rib cage making it very easy to put on. The webbing has a Tencel strength of 900 lbs and it has Velcro and a buckle for added safety. A handle has been added so that you can walk your dog holding the handle or by attaching a lease via the D ring. Holding onto the handle is especially useful when needing the utmost control over the dog. The D ring has been left to float for a very good reason. The D ring acts like a Bridle on a horse letting you have more control over directing your pet.
How to use your Big Dog Harness
Below you can see in more detail how the harness is constructed and how to put it on your dog.
First place the harness over the dog's head with the handle towards his back. |
The harness lies loosely on the dog with the Velcro showing. |
Reach underneath the dog for the long strap and bring towards the Velcro. |
Place the two Velcro sections together as shown. |
With the Velcro pieces attached we can see part of the buckle. |
The other part of the buckle is shown at the bottom of the strap. |
Bring the second part of the buckle up towards the first. |
Click the buckle together as shown in the picture to the left. |
If the harness is too tight around the ribs.... no problem! |
Undo the buckle and then separate the two Velcro pieces. |
Re-connect the Velcro by placing, say halfway down (depending on the girth required). |
Next we will re-connect the two piece buckle. |
First make an adjustment to the pronged end releasing extra material. |
Bring the pronged end towards the first part of the buckle. |
Re-connect the buckle ends to secure the harness |
Here you see the extra space created for that larger dog. |
The harness is offered in 5 sizes depending on the weight of your dog as follows:-
- Size #3 - 40lbs - 59lbs
- Size #4 - 60lbs - 79lbs
- Size #5 - 80lbs - 99lbs
- Size #6 - 100lbs - 110lbs
- Size #7 - 111lbs - 125lbs
